Day 1

Day 1

I have read many blogs and enjoyed them.  Some blogs motivate me spiritually.   Other blogs motivate me to exercise, run more, set a new goal for myself.  I also use blogs to educate myself on new topics.  I recently read how blogs have helped others to stay accountable to goals and their training programs. Interesting!! I am super goal oriented.  So.....

Here is my goals for this blog .

1.  To maybe help others as I have been.  Encouragement, new ideas, training tips, hints  whatever comes along.

2.  To help me stay accountable.

3.  Maybe make some cyber friends along the way.

Turkey Trot 2011 me, son Elliott, niece Jade

My first official post.....
I am a fairly new runner.  I ran my first 5 k in 2010.  The Turkey Trot, the largest on one in my state I was addicted.  I ran another 5k in February 2011 ran most weeks at least once that year then ran the Turkey Trot in 2011.  I really liked casual running.  In January 2012 the big 40 hit.  I was falling apart, a little craziness ran through my brain what am I gonna do.  I might be getting old.  My 5 children joked constantly about me being old, in a loving way of course.  So...........I started taking running more serious.  I found some training plans and a few friends who were runners.  In March I bought my first pair of running shoes and ran a 5k with one of those friends Sandy.  She was such an encourager I went on to find a running group to run with on Saturday mornings.  The Soul Sisters,  this was what sent me over the edge to the love of running.  In the spring my friends started talking about 1/2 marathons.  NOT for this girl no way!!!  I did sign up for a 15K trail run and as I was casually talking to a worker at my favorite running store they laughed and said if you can do Dogwood 15k you could do a 1/2 marathon.  That started me thinking.  Maybe??  Yep, I did it Bass Pro 1/2 marathon Nov. 4th.  I did it in 2:18  thanks to my great running buddies Sandy and Jackie who pushed me after I was ready to walk on that hill at mile 11.  It was a great run!
Bass Pro 1/2 with Me, Sandy and Jackie
2012 held 3-5ks 1-5k trail run 1-10k 1-15k trail run and 1-1/2 marathon and probably 1 more 5k.

What does 2013 look like?
Definitely more 5ks and more trail runs. I hope at least 3 -1/2 marathons in 3 months....going for  my half fanatic.  Dogwood 15K already signed up and Bass Pro 1/2.
Maybe just maybe a sprint triathlon??? or maybe a marathon with my friend Sandy.
If I happen to have any readers what would your 2013 goals be?
